UPMC East completed - achieves LEED Silver Certification

PJ Dick, in a joint venture with Barton-Malow, provided Construction Management at Risk services for UPMC’s newest hospital located in Monroeville – UPMC East. The 300,000 square foot hospital, opened July 2nd, is equipped with the following:

    • 156 private patient rooms
    • Operating Suites
    • Endoscopy suites
    • 22 Emergency Department Bays
    • Catheterization labs
    • Radiation oncology and outpatient services
    • 24 hour imaging services

The hospital achieved LEED Silver certification through the U.S. Green Building Council. Sustainable features include:
    • Public Transportation access
    • Storm water quality and quantity control
    • Water efficient landscaping
    • Water reduction fixtures
    • Optimized energy performance
    • Construction waste management
    • Use of local/regional materials
    • Use of building material with recycled content
    • Use of low VOC materials
    • Controllable HVAC and lighting systems
The project scope also included the construction of a 4-story, 170,000 square foot parking garage adjacent to the facility. The hospital will serve the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh.
