UPMC East completed - achieves LEED Silver Certification

PJ Dick, in a joint venture with Barton-Malow, provided Construction Management at Risk services for UPMC’s newest hospital located in Monroeville – UPMC East. The 300,000 square foot hospital, opened July 2nd, is equipped with the following:
- 156 private patient rooms
- Operating Suites
- Endoscopy suites
- 22 Emergency Department Bays
- Catheterization labs
- Radiation oncology and outpatient services
- 24 hour imaging services
The hospital achieved LEED Silver certification through the U.S. Green Building Council. Sustainable features include:
- Public Transportation access
- Storm water quality and quantity control
- Water efficient landscaping
- Water reduction fixtures
- Optimized energy performance
- Construction waste management
- Use of local/regional materials
- Use of building material with recycled content
- Use of low VOC materials
- Controllable HVAC and lighting systems
The project scope also included the construction of a 4-story, 170,000 square foot parking garage adjacent to the facility. The hospital will serve the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh.
