In recognition of Construction Manager PJ Dick, and Architect-of-Record/Building Engineer Astorino, ESWP presented each company with its Commercial Building Project of the Year award for their collective work on Three PNC Plaza. The $130 million project boasts a 780,000 SF, 25-story high-rise, multi-use building in the center of downtown Pittsburgh, highlighted by 360,000 SF of office space, the Fairmont Hotel, 30 residential condominiums and a 295-car underground parking garage.
The Engineers’ Society of WePA | West End Improvement | Transportation Project of the Year | Feb. 23, 2011
In recognition of General Contractor Trumbull, Engineer Michael Baker, Jr., Inc., and PennDOT District 11-0, ESWP presented its Transportation Project of the Year for their collective work on the West End Improvement Project. Completed in May 2010, the $52.6 million project included the replacement of two bridges and construction of two other structures, as well as the widening of the West End Circle roadway and the lengthening of acceleration and deceleration lanes.
Both awards were presented at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center at ESWP’s 2011 “Annual Banquet,” a premier industry event for the technical community in this region.
Master Builders’ Association of Western PA | CONSOL Energy Center | 2010 Best New Construction Over $10 Million | Feb. 24, 2011
Among a peer group of over 800 professionals who contribute to the quality of construction in Western Pennsylvania, PJ Dick was awarded MBA’s top prize of Best New Construction Over $10 Million for its role as construction manager on the CONSOL Energy Center. The MBA award was presented at its 2010 Building Excellence Awards competition, held during the fourth annual “Construction Industry Evening of Excellence” at the Heinz Field East Club. Presented annually, the Building Excellence Awards are the highest and most sought-after commercial construction industry awards in the region.
PJ Dick, in a joint venture with Hunt Construction Group, provided construction management-at-risk services for CONSOL Energy Center – the new home of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The aggressive 24-month construction project included approximately 6500 construction activities and employed 135 different contractors. Completed in August 2010, the $321 million, 18,087-seat multi-purpose arena is the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certified NHL arena in the world.
PJ Dick was also acknowledged as an MBA finalist in two other categories: Renovation Construction over $10 Million (Bakery Square) and Renovation Construction under $10 Million (Falk Laboratory School).
