2001 Quality In Construction Award

Trumbull/Lindy and PennDOT Win National Award for Quality In Asphalt Paving

On March 5, 2002, the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) announced that Trumbull/Lindy won a 2001 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in construction of an asphalt pavement. The company received its award at a special ceremony at the Association’s 47th Annual convention in San Francisco, Calif.

The Quality in Construction Awards recognize Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) pavements of excellence. “NAPA selects the recipients of its paving awards using a known set of standards that have been shown to give a good result,” commented R. Wayne Evans, Chairman of the NAPA Board of Directors. “This award demonstrates the high quality of work that the HMA industry is achieving.”

Trumbull/Lindy won the award for overlay work on Interstate 79 in Pittsburgh. Despite major contract changes during the project, the company produced a high-quality roadway using a Superpave mix, earning a ride quality incentive bonus. The company also met an extremely tight construction schedule, which limited inconvenience to the traveling public.
