Carnegie Mellon University's Gates and Hillman Centers were one of nine international projects awarded the 2012 American Institute of Architects Honor Award for Architecture. The buildings were designed by Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects of Atlanta, Georgia. The award is said to be the profession's highest recognition of works that exemplify excellence.
